Ferry Project: Best Social Enterprise 2025 at Fenland Citizen Business Awards
The Fenland Citizen Business Awards were held at the March Braza Club on Friday 14th March 2025.
It was a glamorous event with bow ties, evening gowns and a tasty menu.
11 Awards were presented during the evening to businesses and social enterprises in Fenland who are outstanding in their field, and Ferry Project were fortunate enough to be one of three finalists in the Best Social Enterprise category for 2025.
Our category was the first to be announced and Maria Walker from Clarion Futures Communities presented the award. Clarion had sponsored this category and Maria was one of the judges who visited the finalists as part of the judging process.
She said: "Each of the Best Social Enterprise organisations deserves immense credit for the great work they are doing in our communities. Our winner though, stood out, having evolved and adapted over their impressive 25-year history; continually learning from each project to enhance their delivery and increase their impact. The passion for their beneficiaries was evident, and the lived experience of their staff has played a crucial role in improving the journey for future beneficiaries, resulting in better outcomes. They demonstrated a proactive, rather than reactive, approach, and their holistic support was highly aligned with the objectives they aimed to achieve. It was also clear that they had diversified their delivery to ensure commercial growth, ultimately strengthening long-term sustainability and their ability to help those most in need. I am delighted to announce that the winner of the Best Social Enterprise category for 2025 is the Ferry Project."
Ferry Project had representatives from a variety of teams within the organisation in attendance, who all accepted the award on stage.
Keith Smith, Founder and CEO, said "I am grateful for winning this award and congratulate all of our staff who work tirelessly 24 hours a day, every day for the benefit of our clients. This award is the icing on the cake as we finish celebrating our 25th Anniversary as an organisation."
